DENIA: A Coastal Town Between Sea and Mountain
Dénia is a town located in the northern part of the province of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca. It lies at the foot of Mount Montgó, an imposing mountain that, when viewed from certain angles, resembles an elephant’s trunk. Dénia is renowned for its award-winning beaches, including six that received the “Blue Flag” label for the 2024-2025 season: Les Bovetes, Les Deveses, Les Marines, Marineta Cassiana, Els Molins, and Punta del Raset. These distinctions are awarded to beaches that meet strict criteria regarding water quality, safety, accessibility, and environmental management.
Local Gastronomy
Dénia is also a recognized gastronomic center, particularly for its shrimp production, which earned the city the title of “City of Gastronomy” by UNESCO. Visitors can enjoy fresh seafood at the numerous seaside restaurants, as well as the famous Valencian paella. The local market, held every Monday, is an excellent place to discover regional fresh produce.
